Driving out the Unholy Trinity from The Netherlands
Keynote speech Conference on Violence & Religion, Amsterdam VU/Soesterberg - 5 juli 2007
At the Colloquium on Violence & Religion, July, 4-8 2007, an answer was sought to the present vexed question in our societies: ‘What does a society that is tolerant of minorities do when it is confronted with a minority that is violently intolerant?’ At this conference (organised by the Free University (VU) in Amsterdam and the Blaise Pascal Institute, I held one of the two keynote speeches, on the Dutch crisis in recent years, that included two political killings and the ‘banishmen’ of the politician and islam critic, Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
